I have access to a SBC 400 from a 1974 trans am for 300$ it comes with a TH400 and the guy says it has new gaskets but the engine wasn't fired in 2 years ...

Should I jump on this deal ?
Would the be better then my LT1 ?
What can I do to it to make it over 400 hp >

74 Trans Ams had Pontiac 400s in them here in the states, don't know what the Canadian cars had though. Might want to check it out before you buy it. The pontiac motor won't just bolt in you will have to do some fabrication work.

That's the engine , does it tell you more about it ? also I might be able to get a TPI for 80$, if I get a 900 cfm trottle body and larger runners and port the intake, will it work ???
