Quest for the 350 continues
I've been looking at some of the Third Gen specializing junkyards over the internet for complete L98 setups (accesories, wiring, etc.) and Third Gen Resource sells them for $850, and Trans Am Creations sells them for $1000-1200.
Either way, if I lay out the cash for the complete setup (advantage: already have the heads, cam, and FI setup to work on seperately while I still drive the car with the 305 in it; can't give up the vehicle for that long).
I figure we can port the stock heads, the runners, plenum, manifold... Crane 2030 cam... that would be about all I could afford to do to it for the time being. What kind of power do you think I could make with that setup? Porting everything and swapping the cam? 280-300hp? I'm looking for around 300hp out of the swap. There's no way I'd be able to make enough money to buy the engine and heads at the same time. The cam is pretty much the only realistic mod I can swing right now. I already have the SLP headers & exahust as well. Everybody I've talked to so far says the 305 headers won't be that much of an airflow issue, especially since they flow better than the stock manifolds would have anyways. Thoughts? Thanks for the help guys.
EDIT: I'd probably rebuild it too. Rebuild kits for the 350 are cheap anyways, right? I haven't checked prices yet. I don't want to junkyard and engine and not rebuild it. That would make me kinda nervous... I guess it would depend on mileage but I'd still be paranoid of it...
