4 or 2 bolt 400 small block

what kind of horses can u pull from a 2 and a 4 bolt i can get a 2 bolt for cheap but it will need bored i can get it for like 50 bucks should i buy it and how much dopes it cost to get one bored any help would be nice thanks

That is a good price but I would check the block out before buying it. Alos it is like 100 bucks to have it machined usually. also to warn you the 2 bolt 400's aren't as strong and tend to have lwer problems. If I were you I would buy it and look for a 4 bolt main for a bit. I guess there pretty rare though

actually the 4 bolt blocks are the ones to avoid, as there isnt much meat on the 400's and the 4 bolts make the mains weak, a studded 2 bolt is good for about 550 HP

believe it or not the two bolt is stronger. machine the TWO bolt block for splayed caps and you have a very strong block. make sure that the block will clean up with a 4.155 bore (.030 over) thats about as far as most will go, .060 over is a hit and miss deal with a 400
