LT1 swappers --- vacuum line for Master Cylinder?

Ok, I'm going through my engine bay and cleaning it up. One of the things I did half-*** was the connection to the master cylinder from the intake. I still have the in-line one-way valve. But the rest is just normal heavy tubing off the shelf, not meant for this. I don't want to push it very far.

So - how have you guys managed to get the master cylinder hooked up properly? What materials? Where can I get them?

And of course, do you have pictures?

I think I just kept the hose from the TBI and it went right to the correct spot. I know it wasnt anything special so that had to have been it.

Hmm, ok. I think I junked the original stuff. I kept the valve in the line and used just whatever tube to run across to the intake. If I remember correctly, the fitting in the manifold was larger than the stock tubing. Maybe I can grab the factory stuff and then find a different fitting.

Thanks a lot!

I've got the whole engine bay apart....again. Doing the full treatment. I reworked the wiring so I can actually put the PCM in the passenger compartment now. Has JUST enough length to reach the factory PCM location. Now I have to fab some sort of mount for it. I'm so glad I could get it that far - that just cut down on about 50% of the clutter under the hood. Now I just need to figure out where/how to remount the MSD and my remote starter solenoid...

The PCM I have looks like it is supposed to be mounted up towards the front of the car where the charcoal canister is on the drivers side.
I don't care too much for that location.
My Engine, harness, and PCM came from a 95 Caprice

Yeah Zepher, you'll have to mount the PCM in the engine bay somewheres. Brett's PCM has a custom harness that was elongated for his car.

Yup, Mark is right. I elongated mine by....3 feet.

Of course, my harness also reached where the Charcoal can is and that is where I was going to mount in permanently over my MSD box. But I am moving both. If you can get the PCM to reach the charcoal can area comfortably then you can *probably* snake the wiring back into the car. But I can't say for sure.

If the wiring is long enough, but not so long as to run it through the fender...you can always put it through the firewall... but I would not do that - even when Mark suggested it.

One alternative, if you car has now AC, is to put it up over the passenger wheel well.

When I was planning to mount it in the charcoal can area up front I ordered the Imapala SS mounting bracket. Probably the same as the Caprice. It is basically a box that goes around the PCM and has provisions already in it for bolting it down. It not only looked pretty good, but solved some of my problems as far as mounting or making a bracket. Too bad I can't use it behind the dash!

In a worst-case scenario with your car. If you are keeping the charcoal can where it is, you can just mount the PCM where the winshield washer fluid reservoir was. You can probably get away with using the Impala PCM box and zip a few screws through the wheel well.

Good luck. And I want pictures when you get the swap done!
