Looks good. Post some pictures of the interior. The tail lights are not the originals for that car, btw.
The fog lights look untidy on these, I take mine off and only put it on for the MOT and I never run a front plate either and never been puled for it.

Nice looking RS!
You run your car in the UK without a front plate? :| how long have you been doing that for? I'd have thought they'd have pulled you for that.
Yeah I might take the fog light off, especially in the summer.
Any decent places for parts in the UK? I want to get more power out the engine, without really going into internal stuff.
Here's a dash pic and engine bay pic;

Why all the fog light talk? He doesn't even have any fog lights.

The red light you can see hanging from the rear bumper next to the right hand tail pipe is a fog light.

Ah....I've never thought of a red light aimed backwards (nor ever seen that) as a fog light. Originally Posted by andy666

How does a red light aimed backwards help any?
It's so that cars behind can see you in heavy fog, it's alot brighter than the tail lights. it's a legal requirement to have them here, hence why aftermarket ones have to be added to imported cars.

My bad, I thought only the IROCS got those style of rear lights.
I've had my car for 8 years and have not had the plate on in all that time. One police officer crossed the road in front of me and said I had no plate. I told him somone had reversed into me when I was parked and broke the plastic bracket that holds the plate on and I told him that I was waitning for another to come over from the US. Someone actually stole the rear plate off my car a couple of months ago so there was a short time where there was no plate. I now have a piece of paper until I can be bothered to go out of my way to get another...or until the police trace the stolen one.
For performance I'd do intake, headers and exhaust. If you've got 2.73 rear end gears swap them out for 3.23 or 3.42s.
For parts I need quickly I use Ultimate Spares of America. Stay away from Peter Cooper, I had a bad experience when I first got my car. For most things I can wait for I order direct from the US.

Haha fair enough, my car is a daily driver so i'm not sure i'd get away with not having a front plate...especially as there are police houses on my road. Shame though coz having a gaint white plate on the front really does spoil things.
Yeah first thing I'm going to do once i've got my CD player installed (just ordered the kit from Ecklers Camaro) is to get a nice new air filter and get rid of the stock one, not sure how to get cold air to it yet. It's already got a cat back Borla exhaust....speaking of which is the cat a legal requirement here for a '92 car? or can I get rid of it? and what about the emissions stuff? i've heard they arn't required here and limit the power alot.
I'm not sure what axle i have, i'll have to have a look.
Gonna check out Summits site now :P

Hi matey, nice Camaro. Same year and model as mine. Interesting about the plate, I ran mine without a front plate for a couple of years without a problem. I now have black plates with white letters, which look great on a black car. Not strictly legal, but no problems so far. Funnily enough though, got pulled in the wifes Supra because it had a small plate on the front. Different cars draw different attention I suppose?

Moderator
What did the say about the small plate on the Supra?
Yeah I looked at some plates the other day on states-plates.com they do proper embossed metal plates with all the letters on one line so it looks more American, think I might get some, not legal but I can't see them saying anything...most the cops will be too busy checking the car out! haha.
As soon as I've figured out whats making the clunking noise under full lock I'll start trying to make it faster, probably start with an open element Edelbrock with a K&N filter, then maybe some headers and throw the cat away. It's already got a nice Borla cat back system which sounds awesome!
Think the brakes might need changing soon, so I'll have to look into that. Also some 18" Compomotive MO's would look pretty nice on it I think
Still waiting for the Haynes manual and stereo fascia to come from the states...at least then I'll have some music! (not that it's needed with the noise the car makes)

Hello from Northern New England, welcome to TGO - Nice car, I like the Rebel flag front plate. Judging from the exchanges I've read here, you seem to have a decent number of Camaro/Firebird owners in the UK. Good luck with your car. We're planning a trip to the UK in a year or two, and it would be great fun to see one of these cars on the road while we're in country, I'm sure that they stand right out in traffic . . .

theres very few places that you can buy off the net over here but theres a decent network of parts distributors that can get you bits quickly if ya just give em a bell or visit, always good to get friendly with a local one
id suggest getting a copy of custom car or street machine or classic american and looking in there for dealers. real steel, USAutomotive, and the ampar group would be good ones to start anyway.
cool car! looks very clean!

Mark In Maine: Yeah there are a fair few f-body's over here...although I've not driven past another since buying mine but I guess it'll happen some day:P hehe. Where abouts in the UK are you coming to?
Danus: Thanx for than link, I'll get myself signed up to that forum
smev: Yeah I bought classic american the other day, there are some usefull contacts in there. I might have a drive over to my nearest Ampar group garage, it's not that far.

Hey Andy,
You must be inflames1992 from YouTube! I'm IROCZ305 we've been chatting by email for a bit. Sweet looking RS you've got there, good to see some more pics.
I have to admit I've got UK legal plates on my car, I've got used to having a 6x4 white plate on the front. It had USA style plates when I bought it but I like to play it safe! As for other 3rd gens I've seen maybe two since I've had mine. One parked in my local cinema car park and a white one near Bognor, at the time I badly wanted one myself but didn't know how to tell what model they were!
For parts I use USA Automotive, Specialist Auto Parts in Yeovil and I've bought lots of stuff from Modern Day Muscle in the USA. They trade on eBay and sells tons of new old stock interior parts and charge reasonable postage to the UK eBay USA is also pretty invaluable.

Hello from the northern Golden State, and welcome to the site. I couldn't help but notice the "new RS" thread and of course was hoping for pictures of more UK f-bodies. Beautiful car man I love the color, glad to see other countries enjoying our classic (almost) cars. How hard is it to aquire a car like that over there? I also noticed you were going to take a lot at Summit, what do they charge you fellows for shipping? I don't mean to pry, I am just curious. Enjoy the ride bud, she is beautiful.

IROC-ZeeUK: Hey, yeah that would be me
I think other than at Santa Pod I've only ever seen one Camaro around my area and that was a few years ago now. I've got use to the stares now haha, it's funny how you see people look and then once you've passed and checked your mirror they're still stood there looking.
I still kinda regret not waiting for an IROC-Z with T-tops, but I've realised that I'd probably only use them about two weeks a year with our weather! haha, and I know the RS doesn't have much power stock...but I plan to change that!
I'll check out Modern Day Muscle, they sound pretty good from what you've said. My parts came on Friday that I ordered from Ecklers Camaro, I now have a Haynes Manual (cheaper than buying one here) and a Stereo mounting kit that I installed today, just need to get a ISO Harness and a new head unit now! I'll probably upgrade the speakers too. Then It'll either be two 12" subs in the boot or an LPG tank...shame there isn't room for both!
fryer1979: Thanx for the warm welcome! I was lucky with mine as I was browsing a car ad website and noticed it was only 17miles from where I live so went to have a look at it the next day. Turned out to be good, especially as the garage had received it in part exchange and they didn't really know what it was so the price was good!
There is usually a handfull on eBay, although alot of them do need a bit of work and you have to be willing to travel for them! but like I said I was very lucky with it being so close.
I've not tried ordering anything from Summit yet, but I may do soon as I plan to upgrade my front discs/pads...just need to get some prices over here first.

If you want to stand out for the crowd then (for the money) there is no better way then to drive a classic Yank tank!
I was quite surprised, for such a big car, how small the boot (trunk) is! I'd go for subs if you're not using it for long distances and fuel is not too much of an issue. Alternatively you could do neither and actually have somewhere to put your shopping!
My IROC-Z had no radio when I bought it and the original owner had butchered the wiring. I bought a generic ISO block connector and then just connected it to my Camaro's radio loom using crimp connectors, I am sure you can get the wire colour codes off the net. I must of done when I did mine although I seem to remember the previous owner had the foresight to mark up the wiring. Maplins sell the ISO block with just the trailing leads.
As for brakes I'd ask one of the UK suppliers if they stock a performance upgrade. Next time I change my discs I plan to fit a set of pads and discs from EBC

Andy: My wife's a European History grad from university, so there are lots of ancient and historical things we'll be wanting to have a look at. I'd like to see the aircraft museum at Duxford, is it? A big dream also is to get to Goodwood FoS, if possible, but I think I'd like the Revival meeting even more. I'd be fun to get in the standing audience for TopGear, but I'll bet there is a looong list for it. Our trip won't be happening for a year, at least, plenty of time to plan . . .
Cool, sounds like you'll have fun. I have been to Duxford a long time ago, from what I remember it was pretty good...although I was still at school so don't remember much about it. I've never been to Goodwood, maybe one day. Motorsport wise I go to Santa Pod alot, It's our biggest drag strip (used to be a US B17 base in WWII) it hosts the FIA European Drag Racing Championship which includes Top Fuel and Funny Car, I beleive Ers Erbacher has been over in the states running in the NHRA.
Yeah being in the crowd for Top Gear would be great, I'm not even sure how you go about getting there though. I like Clarkson, I think he should be our Priminister haha.

nice, like the colour. Takes a lot of dedication to own one of those way over the pond. Must get some attention!
smev: Yeah Shakespeare isn't far at all, yet I've only ever been once for the Bulldog Bash in 2005! Hopefully this year I'll make it to some proper drag race meetings. Kinda strange I've never really been there seems I've been going to Santa Pod for 4 or 5 years.
avro206: Thanx
yeah it sure costs alot to run over here! I'm currently going through the hassle of finding service parts at a decent price...it's taken me three days to find the correct oil filter! But yeah it gets lots of attention, most people don't know what it is...and the rest think it's a Trans Am or a Mustang haha.
But it's all worth it!

Nice car. Clean as my gun.
People still say nice car to me (I have a 92 RS too) here in the states, occasionally, even though paint is flaking off my hood (bonnet). Do people say anything to u about the car in the UK? Positive or negative?

Hey Connan1, thanx for the comment
Yeah I get people saying things all the time here in the UK, and so far it's all been positive. Most of the time it's people asking what the hell it is as they've never seen one before, other times they seem to assume it's a Trans Am haha. Also I get people ask me if it's fast...and I'm not one for telling lies so I have to be honest :P
I'm still waiting for my first encounter with a tree hugging hippie, I had a Land Rover Discovery V8 a while back and I had a note left on the windscreen telling me I'm destroying the planet haha.

I've just ordered some US style pressed metal plates, i was sooo tempted to have "My carbon footprint is bigger than yours" as the top/bottom message haha. Instead I just went with Chevrolet on the top and Camaro 5 litre V8 on the bottom.
I know they arn't really legal but hell they look so much better than the standard UK ones, saying that I don't think my current rear plate is legal anyway as the lettering is too thin...so if it's illegal, it might as well be illegal with style

That's the spirit, Andy, We have to be able to laugh at some of this nonsense, so we may as well do it while enjoying a nice, rumble from our exhausts. My 'vert is the only V8 that I currently own, though - my bad weather daily driver is a Subaru Legacy AWD wagon with a mighty 2.2l - not quick, but indestructible . . .
