1986 2.8tpi question
Hi, I'm relatively new to anything to do with with cars apart from driving them, but I've always wanted a 3rd gen camaro, so I finally got one. I was just wondering if anyone could clear up a question for me. I've been searching for parts and found most parts I need but occasionally I come across parts that stop at 85 and start again 87 so they just miss out 86. Is the 2.8tpi model any harder to find parts for than any other model? Might seem like a stupid question but like I said....I'm new.
Cheers

Re: 1986 2.8tpi question
Hi, thanks for the reply. The main confusion is the exhaust system. The guy I bought the car from modified at and basically didn't do a very good job. I want to replace the full exhaust system (among other things but this is the first thing I want to set right). When i search for exhaust systems it seems that when described they will only fit 5.0l models. Like I said, I'm new to cars so not sure about which exhausts will fit........I'm pretty sure my local kwik fit wouldnt be that much use. There's some pics below.
Thanks

Thanks

Form most parts that I buy in the UK I use Ultimate Spares:
http://www.ultimatespares.co.uk/
There is also US Automotive but they are VERY expensive.

I tend to buy most of my stuff direct from the US. I built my own exhause from 316L stainless as it worked out cheaper that having someone else make a custom one for me. Kwik Fit are a waste of time. I took the car there once after part of my exhaust came lose in the hope that they could clamp it back up. The guy put the seat cover on the seat, got in, closed the door, and then realised there was no steering wheel in front of him. Dumbasses.

Re: 1986 2.8tpi question
Cheers for the help bud, I won't be able to make a custom one myself as I just don't have the knowledge our skills! I'll probably just send an email to the UK guys, although I have just found a garage in Newcastle who claim to be a chevrolet specialist......might be worth talking to them....in the mean time i'll be getting on with my weatherstripping.
Thanks again for the help...where in the UK are you? there seems to be very little going on here in the north east.

f I was you I'd give ultimate spares a call and see what their price is and then see what the garage local to you would charge. It should be pretty easy to fit yourself if it's a standard one on there. Is it the whole exhaust or just part of it that need replaced?
Stay away from a guy called Peter Cooper who deals with parts for these cars as he's wasted a lot of people's time. All American Autos is another time waster that I have dealt with.
