service engine light never come on-bulb replaced

Hi,
I have a LG4 1986 irocz and my service engine light never comes on, even when i put me key in ON position or when i start my car. I replace the light bulb with a new one. Still does not come on. If I ground the bulb socket, I get 12V read. Any suggestions?

Look for the bulb driver module... kinda light bluish-green box w about a 4- or 5-pin connector. Usually in the console or underneath the radio. (more or less the same place in a way)

Do I need to remove the console completely or if I remove the radio only, I should see it somewhere in there?

It looks like this, and is behind your radio...

No... all it does, is handle the logic required for the SES light. Which is more complex than it would at first appear... for example, consider what the bulb should do when the ECM is disconnected or otherwise totally dysfunctional.

Re: service engine light never come on-bulb replaced

I was told it should produce the 1.21 gigawatts the bulb needs in case the ECM is fried so the flux capacitor at least lights up. If it's bad your just stuck in time....somewhere.
I like your answer MUCH better than >>> "It's a FLUX CAPACITOR" lol

Re: service engine light never come on-bulb replaced

Once I find it, is there a way to test it out or should I just replace it? Thanks in advance!

Re: service engine light never come on-bulb replaced

First things first...

First, find it. Might just be missing. Especially if, some PO had put some Edelbrock carb on it or some such, disconnected the ECM, and got sick of the light glowing.

Second, see if it's hooked up.
