I've always wanted a 80's third gen car, so last spring I picked up this "beauty", an 85 Z28 that someone decided to turn into a nice pickup truck



She's got an LG4 with a mild cam, headers, exhaust and Edelbrock intake / carb done so she actually moves pretty well. This spring I will need to sort out the trans as well as some paint problems and really bad weather stripping + sagging headliner, but otherwise it's pretty solid. I found some video clips on my phone from when I'm putting her in winter storage, if anyone wants to take a look.


Oh and if anyone has a pair of original side mirrors for sale, I'd be keen on replacing the current ones.

This has something to do with car tax regulations in Finland, right? I read an article once about a guy who collected vintage mercedes cars. All turned into pickups to avoid taxes.

Correct, turning something into a van or pickup meant you paid no vehicle tax in 80's. A guy called Hessu imported around 140 f-bodies to Finland back then and chopped them into pickups. However, this is what they mostly looked like:



It was basically just a two-seater with a really rudimentary truck bed. Mine was further modified by someone who wanted to make it an actual pickup truck with some capacity to haul stuff. These used to be really cheap imports back in the day, you could get a modern sports coupe with a 5-litre V8 for the price of a Lada basically.
