High flow exhaust system for 89 350
High flow exhaust system for 89 350
I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a place that sells high-flow exhaust systems for an 89 Formula 350. All I seem to be able to find are hedders or cat-back systems...Summit has a Y-Pipe setup from Dynomax that hooks up to the manifold, but that's not quite what I'm looking for, since I have a pipe from each manifold, run into it's own cat. Then there's essentially a y-pipe after the cats that run into one exhast pipe, back to the muffler. I'm don't want to drop $500 on SLP hedders (the one's I'd probably get) and may opt for a more economical option if anyone has some recommednations.

From what you said in your post and the number of posts that you have, i dont know how much you know or don't know about your car. You have a Dual cat system on your car which was the best that GM put out in thirdgens. If you were to buy a catback or headers you would have to order one for dual cats, unless you wanted to switch to only having one- don't do that. When looking through catalogs, for catbacks it will either say what size/# of cats there are, or it will say what engine code the exhaust system is for. That letter is the 8th digit in your VIN found on the drivers side of your dash, aonly visible from outside. Depending on how much you're planning to do to your car and how much you wanna spend, i would say get a decent cat back first, then consider headers, once you have more mods on your car, and they'll do more for you.
What I was looking for was the pipes coming from the manifold, down to and including the cats. I haven't been able to find this for my car...I've checked with Summit, JCWhitney, Autozone, Pep-boys jegs (?) etc. and haven't had any luck. It looks like I'm going for some SLP hedders (30003) and some Catco high-flow cats...I'd hop in the group purchase, but I need these ASAP (last week actually). PROM, lower temp. fan switch, and 180 thermostat are next on my list of mods.
Thanks for the help.
