3" vs. 2 1/2" exhausts

2 1/2" duals vs. 3" single....not so much performance comparrison, rather comparing price. The 3 inch single would exit in the stock location using a 1 3" inlet X 2- 2 1/2" outlet muffler.

These are parts you'll need for both (All parts listed with Summit #'s):

Hedman Headers HED-12018 $105.00
Misc. parts (clamps, supports) $40.00

2 1/2" Dual Parts:

Turn Outs 90* HED-642025 (2 Each) $37.00
8 Feet of 2 1/2" pipeSUM-640025 $23.00
Mufflers SUM-630125 (2 Each) $30.00
H Pipe SUM-642025 $37.00
Hedman Extensions HED-18806 $22.00

Total for duals $294.00

The extensions are possibly needed for both systems because the headers
are reportedly rather short.

3" parts:

4 Feet of 3" pipe SUM- $15.00
Muffler 40 Series $60.00
Misc. Bends FLO-15902 $65.00
(not needed if going to exit infront of tire.)
Turn out (only for tire exit) $19.00

Rear exit $270.00
Exit infront of tire $224.00

How much difference in sound is there between dual 2 1/2's and 3" exhausts?

Well, dual 2.5s will flow more than 3", so I would think the duals would be louder.

Duals sound soooooooooo much better than any single exhaust ever can. I think you should stick with single exhaust if you have a daily driven all-purpose car, but if you really wan't performance, go with dual.
