Hooker cat back question?
I am in desperate need of a new exhaust soon. I've been looking for about a year and i've been definitely looking at the hooker cat back for a long time. Mark, you've helped me out a lot by answering other people's questions and all, but I have a question for you or anybody that knows. I have an 89 Firebird Formula, 350 5.7L, but it has a dual cat setup. I was wanting to get the the one for $260 set up for the 86-92 TPI H.O. Is this the best one for my car? The hooker website says it won't fit a dual cat setup, but my engine number in the VIN is 8, which says it will fit. So mainly my question is, will this fit my car, and will their be any alterations to be made. If so, how much fabrication will need to be made? I just want to make sure it will definitely fit before i order it. Thank you for any responses guys! I appreciate it!

If it says it won't fit a dual cat, then there's going to be some fab needed. How much I couldn't tell ya. I've never seen underneath a dual cat 3rd Gen. With that being the case, if you really want the Hooker, I would buy the cheapest one $200 like me and put that $60 you save towards the exhaust shop modifying you some piping to go to the cat.

They're all the same, only difference is the way it connects to the cat. The $200 one has a square flange with 4 bolts to connect to the cat, I just had it cut off.
