Aftermarket versus local shop for pipes - cost?
Aftermarket versus local shop for pipes - cost?
I've seen some ridiculous prices quoted for custom mandrel bent pipes on here, but I wondered if it was pretty universal, or an aberration. As I understand it, there is not emmissions reason that you have to use a "50 state legal" advertised part from SLP/HOOKER/etc. for the cat back especially, so why don't more people just have a shop bend something up? Is everyone charging an arm and leg for this kind of work? Just curious.

The exhaust shop I've been to and heard from others on here, they're some lazy people. Most don't want to install headers or say that headers aren't worth it. I've been told that 3" is really difficult to do and not worth it, and this was by an exhaust shop. So, I'm not sure what they would charge, but I don't like to deal with them, if I don't have to.
