effects of capping cat part of AIR diverter??
effects of capping cat part of AIR diverter??
Will capping off the cat part of the AIR diverter valve cause the 02 sensor to report a false lean condition?
Will it cause the headers to get a lot hotter than they would if the AIR was functioning normally?
I hope that the answer to one of these questions is yes. I hate having all that crap in my engine bay; it's worth the extra work to take it out and make the headers non-AIR. Plus, I might as well take out the AIR stuff since my dual exhaust won't pass visual anyway (even though I'm running cats and I'm sure it would pass emissions if had it).

I'm just going to either going to keep the pipe that injects air to the cat, but have it hooked up to nothing down below, or I'm going to take all the AIR out, cut the tubes off the headers, and seal them up.
I haven't yet decided which one I'll do. My exhaust won't pass visual anyway, so I might as well take out the AIR crap. The cats I'm using apparently don't require AIR to function properly.

I would reccomend taking off all the AIR stuff and sealing up the tubes. That's what I did and I don't have any problems with it. It's also nice to actually see part of your engine too.
Yeah, I took everything off tonight. I'm going to cut the AIR tubes off the headers, seal it up, and try to get it as flush as possible so it looks nice. It would have been so much easier just to buy the O/R headers, but I got my SLP's for $300, so oh well. I hope to have everything back together later tonight.
