o2 sensor question

Im not getting a temp reading inside my car..i think my temperature sensor is gone. could this be keeping my car in open loop mode? cause my choke light also stays on sometimes. The choke isnt a big deal cause i just modified to stay open right now...sucks for start ups but runs fine other time. but also my car has been getting worse on the track and i was just wondering if i could be getting a false signal or something.

The temp sensor for the instrument panel and the coolant temp sensor that tells the ECM whats going on are not interconnected as far as I know. So if you lost the sender for the gauge, your ECM may not even know it.

Acouple of years ago I had a problem with my S 10 Blazer (a thermostat stuck open) not reaching temp. The ECM would not go to closed loop and the torque converter would not lock up. According to the book if the engine temp is indicating less than 155* this will happen. As per my AutoXRay my engine temp was ~145*, way too cold. Your ECM may use your CTS for torque converter and closed loop operation the same way. I say fix any problem as they come up and no matter how insignificant because they may effect other systems.
