flowtechs don't fit in firebird?
Hi,
I just got my new flowtech headers. I just wonder, are this typical that they don't fit in my car, without removing air conditioning box? I just can't get headers in my car with AC. Ok, my AC don't work, so I can get it away anyway, but without that box, normal air fan don't work either.
Headers just go 5cm inside that box, so it don't be even near to fit.
Another side is not problem free either. There pipes hit to my brake pipes. Ok, there headers fit, but they get a tough contact with those brake pipes.
Part number for headers was 11102

Hi,
Are you saying you can't get them past the a/c box?
You may need to pull the two motor mount through bolts and raise the engine a few inches.
I just installed a set of 11102's in my camaro, and they fit very nice.
I did have to bend the brake lines a little bit to gat them away from the header, but not very much.
The Flowtechs should fit.
Good luck.

Yes it is always better to follow the directions that come with the headers. I tried for about and hour installing my hedman headers, scratching up the valve covers with no luck. Then i read the directions and they said to raise the engine 2" to intall the headers.

Thanks guys,
I really should read instructions better
I tried install without removing spark plugs and spark plugs heat sink.
(Even one spark plug cut to two pieces)
After removing the heat sink and all spark plugs, headers were there. Sure they were tight, but I didn't need to move engine or anything else. YES
Soon I see how much profit I got from headers.

the right side header must go in from the bottem unless you have a pre85 with the smaller ac/heater boxes
if you have a latter model you must remove the starter and the spark plugs and slide that one in from underneath
vo reason to lift the motor are you crazy jeff
in the insructions it says you will probably need to put it in from underneath and take out starter
thats what i hade to do with my 89 305tpi
my friend with an 84 LG4 had a much easier time they silde right in to the top

Jerflash,
I already had the motor in the air to pull the oil pan to put in a new rear main seal and to check the bearings in the bottom end, so before I set it back down I stuffed the headers in

ok that is understandable but if you lifted it just to put the headers in you would deserve a slap on the head
but it was a good idea to do it when you had the chance
