y pipe question
y pipe question
I just had a custom y pipe made for my slp headers and got a 3" high flow cat. I told the guy I wanted 2 2 1/2s into a 3". Well I get back yesterday to find out he actually put the 2 down pipes into a 2 1/2 and about six inches further back made it a 3" pipe. This seems to be defeating the purpose of having a full 3" inch exhaust. Let me know what you guys think. Oh and I paid $140.

If he put the two 2 1/2" down pipes into a single 2 1/2" pipe and then into a 3" collector, I would take it back and have him do it right. $140 sounds really cheap for a custom y-pipe. I was quoted $500 for a mandrel bent y-pipe before I bought the SLP Y-Pipe for $199 which has two 2 1/2" down tubes going into a single 3" collector.
Its nice that he did charge me only 140, he did as a side job, company got 70 and so did he. I was also considering the slp y pipe but it was $285 after doughnut gaskets and the cat adapter and the $40 shipping charge (what bs). I know it stainless, but too expensive for my blood. I figure it would be cheaper this route unfortunately the 3" y pipe is actually a 2 1/2. Oh well I saved a little and got the y pipe and 3"highflow cat for $230. Maybe I'll find the slp y pipe cheaper some day.
