My son put a glass pack on the end of his exhaust tips on his 89 rs. He says this will increase hp. I just think it looks ugly. I have not heard it but will it make it any louder? Will it really increase hp?

glasspacks can sometiems work better then a stock muffler but tend to be more restrictive then a straight through muffler since the glasspacks have baffles in them that help disrupt the flow inside kinda like like how the rocks in a stream make the river flow all messed up

 

glasspacks sound like crap IMO. Sound really trashy. I would think regular exhaust tubing would be much less restrictive that glasspacks (as tips anyways) he probably did it to make it louder.
