EGR and Manifold question

i am in the market for a new intake manifold and i have an edelbrock performer at home, but the non-egr version. i talked to someone this weekend at Carlisle and said that "you dont need egr, it'll pass emissions without it" now this sounds to me like he just wanted to sell me one of his manifolds, but im wondering with a good tune up and all and maybe a can of that "pass emissions" stuff it might pass, any thoughts or advice?? i also have removed my smog pump as it says in my sig.

and if i do need an egr manifolf which one should i get the edel., the weiand or the GM performance parts???

Do you know what kind of testing/inspection you have? If visual, you're probably already up the creek. If tailpipe sniffer at idle & cruise RPM only, you can probably get by. If dyno, probably not.

A fresh tune-up, oil change, and cat will do wonders for emissions. I won't guarentee you'll pass the sniffer, but your chances are much improved if you do.
