Type of Cat in an 89RS

Like the topic says.. What type of cat was used in an 89 rs with the 305. a honey comb style, or the pellet bed style? would I notice much increase in hp if I removed it? Other than the fact that it would probably be much louder.

I don't think the pellet kind was used on any 3rd GEn, could be wrong though. Definately get a hi-flo kind, pellet kind aren't used at all anymore.

Well I know the pellet bed ones where used back in 82.. when my dad had his berlinetta. How much do the high flow cats muffle the sound. I was looking at the dynomax cats. are they any good?

With a hi-flo cat you will notice a louder exhaust tone as well as added power. Your car has the honeycomb cat. I know mine was when I got the hi-flo put in and mine is an 87 so yours would have honeycomb.

I don't know what emissons are in canada, but I paid 12 bucks for the pipe I put on, but if you need a cat then you need a cat and hi-flow is the way to go

The part of BC that I'm in there is no emissions testing. But it will not be long before there is.. so I'm just sticking with the emissions equipment.. What Cat would you guys recommend? Dynomax, Catco,. . . ? Basically what would flow the best, make it a little louder, and pass emissions..

Honeycomb. Trust me, I have a piece of it sitting here next to me on my desk. My bricks were busted up pretty bad, here's on of them. I just shook the cat and it fell out.
