Loud Pipes Illegal??

I jsut got pulled over by the cops today, for having a loud car. Does anyone know if they are actually illegal?

I have an 89 formula 350, mildly modded, w/a Flowmaster *American Thunder*?? (kinda guessing, it was on my car when i bought it about a year ago, and i have not seen another flow' that fits our cars directly.)

Any response would be helpful.

Yes loud pipe are illegal. Even though they save lifes, cops don't like them. A friend of mine got a ticket from a cop because if his 5" coffee can while I have yet to get one for my open pipe 350 Nova!!!!But I think that cop was just a *****.

he in IL the law states there is no restriction on loud ness, as long as everything is in its stock location.......however, if you are missing a piece or lets say your y-pipe cracked open, then you can get a ticket, but most just give warnings
