cat is stuck, well, make that really stuck on

i went to remove my y-pipe today to make room for my new headers and y-pipe and i couldn't get the slip on connection apart (not too surprising...) so i went to disconnect the cat and y-pipe at the rear flair fitting. Of coarse, its stuck together there too. I pounded and pounded from all directioons and even slammed at it wiht a sledge hammer and still that thing stays togerther. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the cat. seperated from the rear exaust section? Its a great exuse to rip the whole thing out and get a new high flow cat and a catback system but im outta cash.

I'd try heating it up and do it that way. I know is stupid, but did you make sure all the bolts were off for what your taking off.
