SLP headers with another mfgr y-pipe
Has anyone mixed up headers with another mfgr y-pipe? The SLP y-pipe is pretty pricey and it would be nice to replace with another unit from hedman etc. for less.
Any thoughts about this because they look the same.

I'm having Y pipe problems myself. The tricky part is where the Y pipe meets the headers. SLP and edelbrock use the doughnut gasket apporach. Headman and Hooker have the old school flat header gaskets with the3 holes. The hookers I got have a ball flange connection.

All the Y-pipes are different. If you don't buy SLP's, pretty much your only other option is to have one made at an exhaust shop.
