I had a bad day - exhaust leaks...

2 exhuast leak stories, neither w/happy endings:

(1) @ heads - when I put in my LT1 cam and new intake etc., I thought I'd change from paper (came w/headers) to copper exhaust gaskets so I wouldn't have the future leak problems I've read about with the paper gaskets. I also put in Stage 8 locking bolts. Leak city. I got the round port copper gaskets, but it looked to me like my heads (L03 stock) were more square than round, so I figured that's why. So I just put in Percy's aluminums today - still leaks... what's the deal??? the dang paper gaskets worked fine, now I'm screwed and out $80!

(2) @ collecter-to-header flange: these leaked almost from day one (I may have over-torqued them a bit initially). When I changed to copper on the header gaskets, I went copper on these, too. They still leak. The psgr side unbolted itself (yep, all three bolts). And no, I didn't forget to tighten them... I put it back together with new bolts, but guess what? The rattle I've been hearing recently wasn't just from the first-loose-then-unbolted (read "loud, like open headers") flange -- no, there's something inside the pipe, forward of the cat!! I suppose it's either a chunk of my Catco's honeycomb interior or that rocker arm nut I never found when I replaced my springs while my headers were off. I fear it's probably the nut. How bad is it to have a nut rattling around in there (besides the annoyance)? Will it slowly but surely demolish my cat's internals. I am not looking forward to taking off the stinkin header again...

Bedtime for me.

I was told we have circle ports, only the hi perfo motors have square, and I don't consider an L03 hi perf.

We have circle ports. Some heads are D ports, but if you have the stock 187 L03 heads, then use round port gaskets.
