Installing headers
Installing headers
I have an 87 Gta with a new 383 stroker motor in it. I have no emmision controls or any air conditioning components, so there is a lot more space under the hood. My question is, is how hard is it to put a set of shorty headers on?...I know it will be some what easier because of using shorties with the stock exhaust, but is it worth saving the money and doing it myself? definitely necessary with a 383. otherwise that thing wont breathe. on the other hand it wont be any easier than puttin on stock manifolds except they weigh alot less. it will be tough but dont get mad to quick its a long process hopefully a days worth of work.
I just put heddman shortys and y-pipe on my 85 TA. I took out the smog stuff and the whole AC/Heater box and blower after a "minor" engine fire, actually meltdown from the heater hose blowing off and melting alot of things. N E ways, the passenger side no problem at all, drivers side the engine had to go in from the bottom with alot of work and swearing. But I have a T5 so I'm sure that didn't help with making it easier. But the results were well worth it and the whole header y pipe system was only $200
So do it.
So do it.
