I am thinking of getting a used LS1 and putting it in my '88 Trans Am t-top. And I am researching how hard it would be. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. But, now the question; what kind of exhaust system would I need to get for this application? Could I use a system for a third gen, or an LS1 system, or a custom job. Thanks, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

 

Just like the motor, almost everything will have to be custom made. Nothing swaps directly over.

The problem is where the cats mate up with the engine. I am in the process of planning an LS1/460LE sawp for next year. Of course my current system failed last week. After doing some research I was considering an LS1 exhaust to facilitate the upgrade. However this would have more of a mess.

From what I have gathered everything from the cat forward is different. Following that reasoning I ended up staying with the 3rdgen system.
