Anyone running dumped exhaust???

Ok, I'm needing an exhaust setup that can hold me over until I get full exhaust, headers and the whole works. Anyone have a flowmaster 40 series dump? I'm pretty sure some of you do. I talked to one shop and he was saying it's just not possible, there's nothing to hang it from and the muffler is supposed to be mounted on the back of the car parallel to the axle. Was he just throwin out BS or what, not wanting to do the work? Would I have ground clearance problems or anything like that? I'm thinking about just getting 3 inch exhaust dumped into a 40 series for now... no tips to deal with(I like no tips, it looks clean). Thanks guys.

Mine is sort of dumped I guess. I have a stock exhaust system with a Flowsmasher 80 series. Instead of tailpepes I just had really small pipes shoot towards the ground right out of the muffler. It sounds better than any thirdgen in town that I've heard. It is really deep, almost to the point that the low frequencies will hurt your ears after a while. I have 3 complaints though. It makes the interior pieces of my car rattle like all-hell, even the button on my shifter rattles! And also the exhuast fumes contain toxic chemicles and it will eventually rust out the bottom of the car. Last but not least, I have a black car and the exhaust is always kicking up tons of dust and dirt and depositing it on the back of my car. I'll be upgrading to a full 3" system soon with tailpipes of course!
