exhaust tip question

If I buy new tips do I need to weld them in or can I just use some exhaust clamps to hold them?

Either you mentioned would work and while making fun of the 5" ***** tips at autozone i noticed some have a set screw type rig being used.

tack weld them from the inside and you won't see the welds.
