difference between 2 or 1 cat
i have a 92 camaro z28 350 tpi and im going to get hooker cat back , but they only make to fit 1 cat and i have 2.... i know a guy who will do some pipes fabricating for cheap but i was curious how will it affect my car switching to 1 cat. the new cat will be a real good high flow cat. will the flow and performace be the same or?...

i'm not sure about the performance gains or losses changing it to one cat. YOu will definitely have to get a new y-pipe also. I'm sure if you get a good cat (random tech, or catco, etc) there will be no performance losses.
Well the difference from the factory (1 cat vs. 2 cats) was actually 10 horsepower i think, introduced i believe in 1989 as an option, the following years came with dual cats, at least for 350 tpi's they did.

Hey. I'm in the same boat as you are. Except I'm redoing my whole exhaust. I got the hooker catback, headers and a Cat Co 3" cat. Hopefully I'll have it all done this weekend. I hope that switching to a single cat won't hurt performance too much. I figure that a good flowing dual cat system would outflow a single one (but not by a whole lot), but it was cheaper to go with the single. You hadn't mentioned if you were gonna do headers in the future or not. If you're thinking about it you may want to go that route since some come with Y pipes and will save you from having to make one (and you'll have headers :-) ).
