Heddman Y pipe ?
Heddman Y pipe ?
Hey all,
I traded my Iroc for another Iroc that's much better, anywho...this one came with Heddman Hedders on it with their Y-pipe and has what looks to be a slip joint right where it passes under the oil pan. Do you know if this is supposed to have a clamp or gasket or anything in or on it? It looks like it's leaking a little and I wanna stop the leak.
Thanks

Ive got the heddman headers with that y pipe on my iroc and when they put mine on they welded that slip joint together. Mine doesnt leak but im sure a band clamp or weld job would help your problem.
definitely weld it, but make sure everything is already bolted up and lined up right, or else its a complete pain to bolt the headers to the y-pipe. somehow the alignment is off on mine and it takes a while to bolt up because you have to pull the y-pipe into line with the header. I think it may be the cause of my exhaust leaks, I never can seem to get rid of them.
I just installed the hedmans with the hedman Y pipe, and we welded the slip joint. It was one of the easiest mods I've ever done. The headers dropped right in from the top, didn't have to lift the engine or anything.

I have mine clamped on. I probably should weld it but I'm getting rid of it once I get the car running again.
I've been throwing around the idea to my "exhaust welder-up-er" friend about cutting the hedman y-pipe just before it turns into a single pipe and then welding up duals that follow the stock route next to each other. Then about 3 feet before the axle have them branch off into an H and dump at the rear. Who knows, gotta do some more measurements.

Got mine Hedman Hedders from Jet Hot. It came without the O2. I spoke w/ there Tech support and there are going to put the O2 bung on for free. If you are getting them coated from Jet Hot make sure you ask if the O2 comes on it. If not tell them to weld it on. Seems to be that Hedman for got to put them on for certian hedders.

my headders were easy to put in the only thin ki had to move was the stering shaft had to be unbolted..def easier than i expected tomorrow thw y-pipe.
