Headers with AIR

I have the opportunity to pick up a set of Hedman Headers for a good price. They do not have the AIR provision, however...would it be okay to just run the AIR tubing to the cat? I do have to pass emissions, but they are not that stringent here, so I'm not too terribly concerned about it. TIA

you might as well delete the rest of the a.i.r stuff since it wont be used and just cap the air tube provision on the cat. thats what i would do. there is already an air tube going to the cat from the air pump/air diverter box on the passengers side.

the best idea i guess would to be delete all the stuff or just cap the ends on the rubber hoses going to the stock air tubes on the manifolds.

Thanks, that's what I figured would probably be the case...does an exhaust cutout affect emissions any?

maybe run a search on that, i would say yes maybe alittle because you are bypassing the muffler and most likely the cat depending on the way you have it set up.

yes you could run a hose from the air pump directly to the cat. This is all the air diverter valve does when the car is warmed up anyways, so your emissions wont change a bit. If they do look under your car with the mirror for emissions, to check for the cat, they might see that theres no air hose going to it. But if they arent that stringent, It probably wouldnt matter.

The AIR tubes serve the function of putting fresher air into the stream of exhaust which burns and cleans up a bit BEFORE it enters the cat. When it enters the cat it cleans it up more. No AIR tubes means one less step for DEQ. AIR isn't really anything but clutter and a cleaner environment.

If youre gonna have a cat anyways, leave the AIR on.

Cutout shouldn't do anything with emissions because the cutout should be closed, when you are testing.
