Muffler without tailpipe?

Hey so i got some crappy news i was driving the firebird last night, and hit a bump i didn't see coming at all and it ripped off the left side muffler, i got the muffler from the side of the road, however the exit side of the muffler's tail pipe had been torn about halfway down the exhaust and doesn't look repairable. Would it be safe to run both mufflers without the out side of the tailpipe??

if my question is confusing its because its hard to explain so let me draw a little picture

standard exhaust:
(header)(tailpipe)(muffler)(tailpipe)
(header)(tailpipe)(muffler)(tailpipe)
its dual muffler btw
exhaust after bump tore me up:
(header)(tailpipe)
(header)(tailpipe)(muffler)(tailpipe)
my idea to fix the problem:
(header)(tailpipe)(muffler)
(header)(tailpipe)(muffler)

tell me what you think guys, i hope you understand my question

if there is no pipe after the muffler you'll be spraying exaust gass all over the underside of your car. that'll get mighty dirty pretty quick.

just spend the couple bux and get a foot of pipe for each side and get them welded to the mufflers
