Please help! Cat conv hot as fire.

I have had the converter changed and it is still getting red hot. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

You probably are running really rich/lean. The catalyst in the converter has to work overtime to convert the exhaust gases to co2 and h20, and makes excessive heat as a by-product. in a normally running engine, the cat only has to do a small amount of work, and the heat produced is negligible. i would take a look with a wide band o2 and see whats going on with the mixture

Yep, probably runnin a little lean. Check the timing and choke (forgot to check your sig) so that may not be a problem.

Red hot, as in it glowing right?

Glowing is the right word. Won't have to mow the grass for awhile, it has burned it all up!

Thanks!
