i am going to cut my cat off monday, and i am thinking about buying some headers. i am not to savvy on how the whole a.i.r system works though. will i throw a code by removing my cat? if i just order headers that dont have air tubes, would it be okay. do i have to remove the air pump? emissions are not a problem, so any advice in this area would be great. tia.

 

when you remove the cat just bust the AIR line off that goes to it.
then when your taking off the stock maniflods to put on your headers, take all the air lines off of them, follow them up to the pump removing any brackets along the way, then once at the pump simply disconnect it.
and if you would like to remove the pump also, do a search for "remove smog" or "remove AIR" and you should find out everything you need to get rid of the pump (belt #, belt routing, etc)

 

would it hurt anything by just leaving it on there for now? what kind of power increases are normally seen with headers and no cat? thanks!!

 

It tells you how to remove the smog pump in the modifications section on thirdgen.org... not to hard but I hope you dont get a visual emissions check down there
