Suggestion: Get a direct-fit cat and cat-back for '86-'91 TPI single cat application. Yes, I know you don't have TPI, but that's the best combo you can get (single-cat-wise).

You'll have to adapt the y-pipe to fit the cat inlet, but that's a small price to pay for the best system you can get. Then, when you upgrade to headers, get a set made for '86-'91 TPI - it'll fit up to your cat, and now you're set!

like i mean, i wana buy the random technology cat but its only 11.5 inches long and the others are 16 and 18. Is the cat gonna be long enough to reach the y pipe since its 4-6 inches shorter.

i myself put on a hooker catback on and headman headers & y-pipe. the hooker had to be modified a bit (cut off the flange, but i can deal with it for an $80 savings) so i knew everything would not be a perfect fit. i bought a catco 3" cat and just picked up a 2' piece of 3" pipe (better to have extra then not enough). i'm willing to rig it up (not a poor job, just not perfect) because i saved around $100 not getting the direct fit and i can afford the time it takes to get it just right.
