Horsepower: W or W/O Muffler?
Horsepower: W or W/O Muffler?
Hey guys-I bought a 88 TA with 305 TPI and it sounds very nice w/out the muffler. It's not too loud, and not too soft, but just right. I was thinking about putting a flowmaster muffler on, but I'm not sure if I will lose or gain horsepower . Should I leave the muffler off, and stay with what I have? or should I buy the flowmaster and enjoy that sound, with the claimed 10 or more horspower increase? I'm just not sure if that 10 HP increase is going to be there, especially without a muffler right now. What do you think?

the 10+ hp you never know if you are going to get
who says what mods they had and how much they need he exhuast when they did dyno for the car
as for if you would gain or lose power I have no clue to be honest with you
it is kinda a baffle design which can make you lose power (cherrybombs are real good ex of that) but then again they claim to be setup so they have a low pressure zone in there that will help scavange the exhuast gas which will give you more power
so it comes down to will there scavaging effect overtake the restriction of having baffles in the way of the exhuast stream... I canīt answer that for you though sorry...
