how do I get stuff in cat out?

I got the catalytic converter off, but I'm not sure what I can use to get all the stuff out. The things heavy, and it seems like it's solid material.

I stuck a metel fence post in the ground and proceeded to unleash fury upon it with the cat. It only took about 10 minutes to smash the catylist into small enough pieces so that it could fall out. Or use a nice lead pipe.

Thanks for the info guys. I used a hammer and a big a$$ punch, worked pretty good. Now it sounds a lot healthier. :lala:

code 32, and a hollow sound if you don't have a pipe in there

Yeha, put a pipe through it. It will make the sound even better. All you need is a pipe 2 1/4 inches and just punch it through. If you do it right, it will even look like the cats been unmodified.

cause it has to pass the visual inspection or if a "law" officer decides too look under the car..read a lot of articles that gutting the cat might actually hurt power..read it on car craft go figure...why dont you just get a high performance cat?.so you can be all legal

I used a crow bar. I just kept jamming it in there until the stuff all came out.

I had stuff in my cat once. I just kept pounding on his back with a lead pipe until the hairball came out. I thought about running a straight-pipe through him but I didn't think he'd like that very much.

I'm probably gonna get an exhaust in about a month, so I'll get a high-flow one then. Is dynomax a good choice?

I used a big chisel and a hammer and whacked all the crap out of there. I was surprised to find a bar going across the inside of the cat, which won't let me put a pipe through it. I want to try to keep it looking legal, but I have yet to find away to be able to cut the bar out because its so far from the cat outlet. I tried to use a hacksaw blade, but I spent an half an hour there and barely scratched it. What has everyone used to get that stupid crossbar out?

To replace the L69 cat, do not use the Catco L69 replacement cat. Consider the Catco 85 Corvette cat (should be identical to the L69 one, but they necked the L69 one down ) or the Random Tech L69 replacement.

I gutted my stock cat after being disapointed with the ravin muffler I have. Bad news... The exhaust smell was horrible, and it sounded 'tinny'. I bought the stock replacement dynomax high flow from jegs for 89 or 99 bucks. Sounds better than the gutted stock cat in my opinion and performs a tad better also.. That gagging exhaust smell is also gone with a high flow. My step dad said it sounded a ton better when I did a driveby with the dynomax on versus the gutted stock cat.

Yeah, a gutted cat definitely sounds like crap. Doesn't always smell bad though.

you can always go to an exhaust shop and ask for a 3" pipe, flared at the ends so you can slip it on and ditch the cat. Around here we don't have any emissions, and as for the visual inspection by a cop, just turn the car off before he gets out of his. Unless he was pulling you over for having a loud car, there's no reason why he'd want to inspect.
