TES sounds on 89 RS w/ TBI

I currently have a flowmaster cat-back for my 89 RS w/ TBI, and it sounds a tad better than stock in my opinion. I was curious if anybody had the TES headers installed and how you thought they sounded compared to stock, especially if you've got the Flowmaster 3" American Thunder cat-back installed too. Also, was there any performance improvement?

Any help is appreciated,

Jason

I have the edelbrock tes system from headers to the catback with a catco high flo cat. I like the sound because it rumbles a little louder than stock but doesn't attract unwanted attention from cops. There was a definite performance improvement. Ican't give numbers because I didn't go to the track but seat of the pants feel was improved and I raced a guy with a small block vega before and lost but beat him after. I am very happy with my system.

When I installed the edelbrock headers along with a 3in strait pipe to a hooker muffler on my 305tbi, I gained .38 sec and 2.1mph in the 1/4 mile.

DONT GUT YOUR CAT!!!!!!! sorry, dont want to get on a rant here and im not some eco hippy, but gutting the cat does moe harm then good. When you gut it, the cat does not stay hot like it would if the material was still in the inside. By not allowing the cat to get hot, the O2 sensor wont stay hot and when you come to a stop or at a point when not much exhaust is flowing past the O2 sensor, the computer flips into open loop, instead of closed loop which it should be in once the engine is heated up. This will cause a bad idle and other stupid crap. Go with a high flow cat (random technology or such) or just leave it alone. Learn from my mistake

my tes headers are awesome and i felt a great improvement with pick up and go. to bad i got a 90 roc G92 5spd instead of my ol 88rs, she was a good sport. damn thing wouldnt run in the 14's but hey, didnt keep me from trying :O i think edelbrock has teh best sounding exhaust and will stick with them cause besides edelbrock the only other catback i would buy is hooker aerochamber but my friends 89 roc 350 TPI has it and i want it to sound different. still getting those 1 3/4 slp headers with 2 nice catco cats :O

I've got the TES with a Walker hi-flow cat and the Flowmaster American Thunder on my car. It definately made the car much louder than with just the cat-back. I don't have any numbers either but the mid-range definetly feels much stronger, but I also have a 350. If I had to do it again I think I would go with the SLP set, More money but it is stainless and should be better quality from what I've heard from other guys on this board. Later
