Does the coating on some of the TES headers, have any heat insulating properties, or is it just for looks?

also, if you opt for the coating, does the y-pipe also get the coating?

 

No just the actual headers get coated not the y pipe. The y pipe gets the crappy black paint and it says in the instructions to actuatlly paint the y pipe with high temp paint(wish i knew that before i put it on)...so i quess the paint there isn't? Well my headers(coated too) are blue, green yellow, and some cromish color left after about 6 months and the y pipe seems to be rusting up a bit. For the price.... yeah can't beat em, though they do do the job
