air cleaners

I have that piece of plastic that runs from the front of the hood back to a hose, then to the air cleaner. If i get one of those air cleaners that have the side opened with screen wire, will my induction work properly? I dont know if it helps, but im putting a 2" cowl hood on. Thanks

What you are reffering to is called an open element air cleaner. Yes, the induction system will still work correctly. You should have either posted this in the carbureted section or the Tech / General Engine board.
