I am currently running Edelbrock headers,No cat, and 3" banks cat back exhaust. Would a flowmaster 80 series be too loud, would I see any performance diff?

why do you want to change it?

 

I want to change it because the banks muffler has packing in it that is burning out and it gets a bad cackle noise at mid rpm.

 

Will the flowmaster sound throaty instead of cackling without a cat in there?

 

Do you have NO cat, or a gutted cat? The Flowmaster mufflers sound great with a cat, I'd imagine it would sound at least as good if not better with a pipe in place of the cat. But I can tell you from personal experience that they sound like $hit with a gutted cat.
