Nope. None. Some say that if your remove the AIR pump and then reroute the belt that you could 'throw the belt' (i.e. serpentine belt gets thrown off the pullies). But, I rev my car to 6500 rpms (and sometimes more by accident) and everything is great.

I twist my motor to 6500 also with the AIR pump removed and have yet to throw the belt. I'd love to see this belt get thrown!!! Hey Sean how did you get rid of both pulleys on the same side and still get it to work?? The only answer is if your A/C pulley was on the drivers side to begin with.

Yep.. I got my car with the AIR pump removed already.. I want to take the compressor out, but I'm not sure of the new routing.. I guess i could in theory go OVER the tensioner (making it useless..and not tensioning...) but i don't like that idea.. and I'm not quite willing to pay like 50$ for a stupidass pulley..

I've been toying with the idea of using a lawnmower wheel as a pulley... hehehehe I think if i get one with the right width, and I mount it up real nice, it would work... Worth toying with the idea, at least..

I forgot to add.. I used a 785K6 belt, and yes it goes OVER the tensioner. The only problem I can see is that BIG empty spot where the a/c USED be housed. As to removal of the AIR system, it just unscrews from the exhaust manifold, a 9/16 wrench I think should do it, along with a generous amount of mystery oil, or liquid wrench.. I sent slush the pic of the belt routing.

Theres a tech article on the thidgen home page in the tech article section that fully explains how to totally bypass the AIR pump. It also clearly shows the new belt routing.
