Factory EXH manifold questions

I have a bought stock TBI Camaro. The TPI cars got a little better exhaust. Some got single cat, some got dual cat, some got higher flow upturned EXH manifolds, some had larger collectors than others.

What is the history on this???

I am attempting to get a pair of the upturned larger diameter 350/305TPI factory EXH manifolds for a single cat. Even thought this is not SLP headers, it is a whole lot better than what i have from what i understand.

Mike

For all the hassle of removing your exhaust manifolds and installing the new ones, its not worth it. You'll gain at the most 3-5 HP, if that. Unless you like bleeding knuckles and swearing, just save up and get headers instead. They'll be worth the skinned knuckles.

I definately agree with Mike.
If you are investing that much time and effort definately get the headers.

Especially if the upper end of the engine has been or will be modified. Otherwise, with a factory style manifold, you will only see a fraction of the gain that something like a nice cam could produce.

I'm looking at headers and I don't want to spend a lot. Heddmann sell a set of painted headers for about $100 and a Y pipe that would let you use the rest of your stock exhaust which also sells for about $100.
Personally, I don't really care if they rust.
As long as they generate MORE TORQUE.
