i believe that the American Thunder is 40s. they say American Thunder is the loudest System they have and the 40s is the loudest muffler they have. so i believe the American Thunder Cat-back system comes with the 40s muffler. but if you want the look of duel exhaust get the 80s. its just a tiny bit quieter then 40s but comes with duel outlet.
I bought the Hooker Cat-back from www.jegs.com and im getting it in 2-3days and people say it sounds very good and it has a duel outlet Aero Chamber Muffler
Hope this helps.

I just had my american thunder cat back put on, and its not near as loud as i thought it would be. I have slp, going to a catco cat and its all three inch from the collecter back. The main reason that i went with the american thunder is because i wanted the look off the dual outlets with three inch in, three inch out.

i have heard they get louder with time, but i just dont know. And once in a while it sould really metallicy. but over all the quality and installation of the system was very good. the guy who put it son did an awesome job and was an awesome guy, not like most mechanics, that i have had experience with. I'll have pics as soon as i scan the pics

I have the American Thunder system on my 88 ROC. I used to just have an 80 series muffler, but switched to the cat-back this summer. I definitely like it better. First of all, the look of having to 3" chromed pipes coming straight out the back is awsome. Second, the sound inside the car does not seem to be very loud, but if you hear it driving down the road it is much louder. I don't know why, but my friend drove mine for me and it sounded sweet. I did the install myself. It was pretty straight forward and once the old system was off, it went on very quick. I'll never get anything else.

I think my 40 series single in/out muffler must be twice as loud now as it was when I bought it in August 99. Louder, deeper, meaner, and no longer metallic sounding. The single in/out muffler is the only way to go -preferably with the exhaust pipe tucked under the bumper cover so the sound resonates off of the street.

Tips are for pickup trucks and riceboys.
