gutted cat and exhaust cut out???????
gutted cat and exhaust cut out???????
ok fellas heres my question,
I have a 87 camaro crate 350 stock exhaust manifolds, cat-co high flow cat, flow tech cutout after the cat (which I run open all the time. OK, say i had my exhaust guy cut off my cat and weld flanges on so i could switch from cat to strait pipe inplace of the cat, just by unbolting some bolts. well my real question is, would the strait pipe and the cutout produce to little back pressure for the motor to run well?
Any help would be great.
thanx,
Ross

It would run about the same. The exhaust manifolds have the biggest influence on how your engine is running at this point. As long as your carb can deliver the proper mixture and the engine's not pinging (how can you hear?) ;-) you'll be O.K.
Still, it seems like a lot of trouble. Cat-co cats flow pretty good. I'd leave it on...just my opinion.
