Dual exhaust via stock routing that is.... Well, my system is composed of dual cats. From the cats, dual 2-1/2" pipes run towards the rear, then combine into a 3-inch section of 3-1/2" pipe (crossover, if you will), then immediately split back into a pair of 2-1/2" pipes. They traverse over the axle and to the stock muffler location. From here, I use a pair of polished Stainless Works chambered mufflers, then out through fourth gen Z28 tips. Three pics to follow. Only one muffler can be seen in the first pic:

ive heard the chambered exuast on a 35th aniv. edeition camaro that was also hopped up by bergers to give it the 385hp and i have to saw with the chambered exuast it sounds nice as hell.

I appreciate all the compliments. It is a very nice system. Sorry guys, but no sound clip.... yet. I can say its louder and deeper than my previous Flowmaster and 3-inch catback.
The design was taken from the 35th Anniversary Berger SS which used the '69 chambered mufflers. The difference in this system (to mine) is that as you go upstream from the mufflers, the Berger SS merges both pipes into one over-the-axle pipe. Mine retain individuality -- a pair of 2-1/2 inch pipes over-the-axle.
My system uses all mandrel bends too, except for one very slight bend (about 5 degrees) in the driver's side tailpipe -- I ran out of mandrel bends!!
Tom, this is the same shop that built my track exhaust. Also, I came to the realization that with this new system, I won't need my track exhaust any more.
To clarify the question about my system having a single pipe, let's put it another way. I wanted a crossover of some type between the two pipes. Because they run virtually next to each other, it was impossible to use an "X" pipe. So I purchased a pair of Flowmaster "Y's" -- one pair of 2-1/2" to one 3-1/2". One was installed just after the cats. The second was butted up against the first, separating the single 3-1/2" back to a pair of 2-1/2" pipes. I'll have to jack the car up to get a good pic of it. I'll do it soon.
Ground Clearance? It's the same as my previous 3-inch catback. This is the beauty of this true dual exhaust system. It all fits very nicely... and sounds awesome too!!

I actually like those tips too, I dont care for them on 4th gens, but they look good on your car.

Oh, and are those stock 4th gen tips, they are 2 1/2" in? I am planning on using them also.

Okay guys, here some more info. And answers to some of the questions above.
Cost
Not cheap. But I wanted it done right and was willing to pay the price. First off, the mufflers. Apparently, there are several companies that make chambered mufflers. I went with Stainless Works. I had to go with a custom length, so that was extra. I also had them polished, another "extra". They did give me a cut off their retail though. I paid $134 EACH. I'm sure other companies can make this muffler for cheaper. However, mine have a lifetime guarantee.
I purchased seven 180-degree mandrel bends, comprised of three different radiuses, from Summit and Jegs. Each piece was slightly less than $20 each.
I suppose the crossover would be considered optional, but I bought a pair of Flowmaster "Y's". These were $38 each from Summit.
It took five hours to install the complete system at $60 per hour. I could have gone some place else but I know the guy who did the job is excellent and was willing to pay the price. He's done a lot of work for me in the past.
In retrospect, any "first" will always be expensive. So I'm not surprised at what it cost. Now, if someone were to make a catback system like this...... the cost would definitely be a lot less....

Routing of Pipes
The first of the two over-the-axle pipes makes a very quick 90-degree turn after passing through the hole created by the body and bar (above the Panhard rod). It runs just below the muffler shield to the driver's side, then makes a 180 into the "aft" muffler, then out the passenger side.

I was going to ask the same, but I figured since you're history buff on these cars, that it was for # matching purposes.
In all honesty, even though I love the stock look, I have no reservations modifying my coupe (as I've done). I retained the 305, not because of originality, but because I wanted to do something different. My original goal was to have a daily-driven, emissions-legal 305 that would run 12's. That means I was looking for a 12.99. Not only have I surpassed my goal, but I'm knocking on 11's.... No complaints from my end!!!
Now my convertible is another story. It will NEVER be modified as it's worth more in original condition.
Anyways, that displacement thing isn't real fair is it, with that SC.

That's a nice setup, and similar to what I want to do if I ever go to duals (which I probably won't). I have a pic of another setup similar to that, just a different rear section. I'll try and find it when I go home this weekend.

This setup was for sale on here awhile back but I forget what they wanted for it. I must say I still like Willie's rear section a lot better. I'm not sure this would sound that great with no mufflers.
