Exhaust Cutouts.....w/n

I know they are illegal but how do you get that cable to run inside the car to control it from being a straight cutout and then having it go through the muffler? Isn't there also a chance of that blockoff plate that switches from one out to the other getting stuck and caught in one position? Also wouldn't there always be an exhaust leak coming from that cutout b/c that is a lot of pressure to be blocking off, isn't it? Thanx

I wouldnt go with the "open from the drivers seat cutout" it has a bad leak problem. I had the mr. gasket one a while back ant it leaked like crazy. buy the flow-tech one insteat. it takes a little longer to get off but it is well worth it.

Where can I find one of those at? Never even heard of it. Do you manually have to take it off or what? Since I'm going w/ a whole new exhaust system for the exception of the muffler I might as well think of everything. Later

Nevermind I just found them in my JEG's catalog. Where would a good spot be to put it in at? I think that I would have to run it after the O2 sensor wouldn't I, so that the computer doesn't go all goofy or am I wrong? Thanx

from experience with 4th gen's, the best spot to put it is right before the axle bend in the intermediate pipe. good luck!

I had one on my 89 RS. It was right in front of the cat. But I took a different approach. I just welded on a threaded piece of pipe and welded a handle on the cap, and just unscrewed the cap when I wanted the cutout to work. Sure, it isn't the easiest way, or the coolest (that cap gets awful damn hot!), but it was functional, and made my V6 louder than my friend's 350 equipped 86 Z-28. And the cost was $6.
