slp headers

well its time for me to look for headers. i'm building a 406ci motor and i want 1 3/4 inch primary headers. the only ones that i see are the slp headers. i have to have the air tubes so i can pass inspection. i also want to get the coated ones. i have the money to get them but i've heard so many horror storys about clearance. this is what i plan on doing: because the motor is going to be out of the car it will be easier to put them on, i am also going to put new motor mounts on. so, my question it, do you guys think i'll have any major problems with clearance? also if anyone out there has the coated slp headers( or the normal slp headers) could you please tell me what you think of them. thanks alot.

1 3/4 coated Hooker shorty headers are $500 or so I believe. Hooker 2055s that come with 3'' y pipe. No need to pay extra for stainless steel SLP if you're getting them coated.

edit that, I'd make sure they're 1 3/4 first...

i have the headers you are speaking of, since there is a two piece y pipe used with these the only clearance problem i "had" was the clamp, welded it last weekend and it took care of the problem. my car is also dropped btw.

KDoggsPimpJetta you didn't have any problems with the steering shaft.

i looked up those hooker headers on the summit web site and it didn't show air tubes or a y pipe. i went to the hooker header web site and they say that the 2055s are 1 5/8 primaries. they don't have a picture of them thought.

i also am looking for shorty style headers, i don't want long tube headers.

My 1 3/4 SLPs went in with NO problems at all........installed them before I dropped the motor in as well......there is about 1 1/2 inch clearance with my steering shaft.......collectors don't touch frame at all..........y pipe went together just as easy........hardest part was cutting off the old y pipe.

Just be glad when the rest is done so i can fire this *ucker up
