ok, i want to do this. 3" pipe straight from the header to the exaust tip, no muffler, no cat, i know this will be loud, but will it help anything, or even hurt anything????

I'd run a muffler, straight pipe will sound like crap. No, it won't hurt anything though.

Oh, I've looked at some of your other posts, you have a V6 right?
if so 3'' is going to be overkill, I'd go with like 2.5'' at most... unless you plan for later mods that will need 3''.

 

i'm in Clinton, near waldorf if ya didnt know. ok well 2.5" it is, what kinda muffler then? it has flowmasters on there now, could i resuse them after i took the existing exhuast off?then run the pipe and muffler combo? and when i do that, where do i put the muffler, closer to the rear of the car, or closer to the header? i'd like to met up sometime and head to buds creek and run the cars maybe

Well, you probably can't reuse the muffler, but you'll have to check. look under the car and where the intermediate pipe goes into the muffler, you'll have to check to see the size of the inlet to the muffler, if it's 2.5'' ,which I doubt, you can reuse it. I hear dynomax is quite popular for V6 cars, and i believe they sell a complete cat-back that has a 2.5'', not sure of the part # though. Just keep the muffler at the rear too, if you care about emissions, though do you have them in your county?

why can't you afford a cat-back, not bein dumb about this, but you planned on getting a 2.5'' pipe and a muffler anyways,that's what a cat-back is, just wondering...
