How hard is it to install a y-pipe? junkyard dog?
Hey all, i found a cheap replacement y-pipe for my car from a junkyard, and i was wondering how hard it would be to install myself. would i need to jack up the car a few feet and just unbolt it?
or do i have to do something stupid like pull the motor off its mounts, and lower it so i can get at the bolts from the manifold to the y-pipe?
thanks!

You should be able to get to the nuts without any problem. That's not the same as saying it will be easy! Who knows how rusty and stuck the nuts are now. Soak them good in penetrating oil for a couple of days if possible before you try to take them off.
Put in some new studs and nuts so you won't have to go through the same hassle again.

Cool. thanks for the suggestion. so its all pretty muhc all about bolts then? doesn't sound too hard.
i just wasn't sure how easy it was to get my hands around where the manifold connects to the y-pipe.

Is it the same y-pipe as your car has now? If not, its not going to line up with your exhaust manifolds, or your i-pipe...
