SLP Header Bolts

I saw a post awhile back but can't seem to find it. Someone used Allen Head style bolts to bolt on their headers. My problem is that SLP, while having real nice headers, gave me a bunch of useless bolts to attach them with. The bolts are too short b/c of the shanks they have on the header flanges. When I called they said to find some bolts at a hardware store or something. Yeah, how bout giving me bolts that work with your own product? I'd rather not use regular jobber looking bolts from a hardware shop and right now I have a mix and match thing going on holding the headers on. Any ideas?

I had the exact same problem. They sent me bolts like there were no accessories that connected to the headers. What I did was I used some of the bolts that came off when I removed the manifolds. I think it was only 3. Then what I used were the Stage 8 locking header bolts. The bolts use a allen head so you can get into tight areas. I have had it like this for about 2 years and my headers have never leaked. Remember to retighten your bolts after a week or so.

Did you use the manifold bolts and then switch to the grade8 or do you have a mix of both? My headers have been on for awhile but it looks kinda thrown together being that practically all the bolts are different.

No, I had to use a combination of both. On my Z, some of the bolts were double sided. Meaning it held the header on and at the same time it was used to hold the support bar for something else, like the altinator. Unfortunatly the stage8 bolts are only one length. If your worried about the system looking like you just threw it to gether, you can get those bolts polished or chromed. Before you go and get those bolts done though, don't use the same ones that came off the car. Get new ones from the dealership. Figure those bolts have been under some pretty harsh treatment over the years. A few dollers now will save you a headache later down the road. This is what I did and looks really good.
